A reading from the book of Luke, chapter 18, verses 35 through 37. And it came to pass that Jesus drew nigh unto Jericho. A certain blind man sat by the wayside begging and hearing a multitude go by. He inquired what this meant. Begging and hearing a multitude go by. He inquired what this meant and they told him that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by. The intro to this scripture describes a beggar who is living in darkness because of his disability.
Speaker 1:Now, although we may not be physically blind or begging in the streets, most of us know what it's like to experience a period of darkness where we can't see past our present problem or situation and we are crying out for someone to help us, but it feels like no one, not even Jesus, is coming to our rescue. Maybe you're trying to forget about Jesus or that thing you used to pray about or have been praying about for years, but a multitude has recently started entering your space, a noisy crowd, disrupting the atmosphere and shifting your attention back to Jesus. These are the people you encounter when you are in that season of difficulty that begin telling you about the great things Jesus has done in their lives, like they got a new job or been healed of a sickness, maybe they got a new home or experienced a financial breakthrough. And when you start to hear all these great things, it's only human to wonder why Jesus is blessing that person and not you. Your spirit will probably become stirred and the commotion is getting louder and, like the blind beggar, you are asking what does this mean? If you've been waiting on God to answer your prayers and he hasn't, don't be discouraged or give up hope. Keep waiting, keep believing and keep trusting, because Jesus is passing by. In fact, he's knocking on the doors of your heart right now. Will you let him in and trust him again?
Speaker 1:Just because whatever you were praying for didn't happen on your timing, that doesn't mean it won't happen, or that doesn't mean that God won't answer that prayer in a different way. God has heard your tears and will answer you on his timing and not your own. So wait on him. Our Heavenly Father will come through for you, just like he did for that blind beggar, which we will continue discussing in our next episode, if the Lord wills. So keep your eyes on Jesus, because he will never take his eyes off of you. Let us pray.
Speaker 1:Heavenly Father, I thank you that there is someone in this world who is fighting for us, someone who hears our every cry and groan, our every prayer and tear, someone who will hold us up when life has knocked us down. I thank you that you are that person. The great I am, even though we don't see a way. Father, we know that you will make a way am Even though we don't see a way. Father, we know that you will make a way At times when we feel invisible, like the world has tossed us aside, like garbage.
Speaker 1:Help us not to trust in our own feelings, but to trust that we are handpicked by you, no longer a sinner walking in darkness, but a child of the living God living in the light, and we are your children. There is no way you will ever leave or forsake us. We have been washed in the blood of the lamb and Satan has been defeated. So help us to be still and know that you are in the midst of every storm, calming the troubled waters in our lives. We come boldly to the throne of grace today, not begging but asking, because we know how much you love us and that you will provide our every need according to the riches and glory in Christ Jesus. We receive it and believe it In Jesus' name we pray Amen. Thank you for tuning into our episode today.
